Winners of Durham County’s “DCo on the Go Design Contest,” which invited local artists and young people to submit artwork for a bus wrap for the county’s new “mobile office,” were announced during this week’s county commissioners’ meeting.
Janice Little, an art teacher, took home the first place prize of $1,000. Brandon Hampton and Aaron Overington won second and third place, with prizes of $500 and $250 respectively. Little’s designs will be shown on the sides of the new bus.
Youth in grades 6-12 were invited to submit designs for the rear panel of the bus. Jena Im, a self-taught digital artist, won first place in the youth contest and received a $250 prize.
The DCo on the Go bus will provide residents with information about the county’s programs and services. It is scheduled to roll out in 2026.
More details are available on the DCo on the Go webpage.
