The Durham City Council approved a nearly $1.9 million contract for the city’s 2025 sidewalk repair project that will remove and fix more than 12,000 feet of damaged sidewalks across the city.
The project will include the removal and replacement of existing curb ramps.
The locations slated for repair have been prioritized using the Risk + Equity Model developed from the 2021 Sidewalk Condition Assessment.
The Department of Public Works employs a two-pronged approach to assigning the repairs. The Street Maintenance Division tackles shorter, more immediate needs, while the Engineering Division contracts larger, more complex projects.
