The City of Durham and Durham County are asking residents for input on how to improve biking and walking in Durham.
The feedback will help update the 2025 Durham Bike+Walk Plan, a comprehensive guide for improving sidewalks, bike lanes, greenways and other infrastructure.
Residents can participate by completing an online survey, using an interactive online map to provide location-specific feedback or attending in-person community meetings or pop-up events throughout December and January.
The updated plan, expected to be released in summer 2025, will identify new projects and prioritize improvements based on community needs. The city aims to build upon the existing plan, developed in 2017, and address what is working well and what could be improved.
The online survey will be open until 5 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2025. Respondents will be entered to win a $50 gift card.
Residents are encouraged to pre-register for community meetings or pop-up events. Community meetings are scheduled for:
- Saturday, Dec. 8: 2 – 3:30 p.m. / Free People’s Bike Ride, CCB Plaza
- Saturday, Dec. 14: 10 a.m. – noon / W.G. Pearson Center, 600 E. Umstead St.
- Thursday, Jan. 16: 6 – 7:30 p.m. / Avila Retreat Center, 711 Mason Rd.
