Durham to conduct safety audit for better streets

The City of Durham will be conducting a safety audit to improve street safety and develop a plan to reduce deaths and serious injuries.

As part of that initiative, the city will hold an open house Oct. 1 to allow participants to discuss their street safety concerns and learn more about the safety audit.  The open house will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Durham Armory, 212 Foster St.

Information gathered from the safety audit and open house will be used to develop a collaborative plan to address road safety issues and improve safety for all road users.

Residents who want more information can visit the city’s Vision Zero webpage to learn how to report traffic concerns, see traffic calming guidelines, and receive Vision Zero updates.
