Sherwood Park revamp begins with flood-reducing demolition

Durham Parks & Recreation has begun demolition work at Sherwood Park to make way for future improvements.

The old basketball courts near the stream are being removed, which the city says will help reduce flooding. The courts will be replaced by native grasses.

The next phase of the project will include demolition of the park’s asphalt paths that lead from the parking lot.

The city plans to install new asphalt paths, a pickleball court, picnic shelter and playground.
