CenterFest breaks attendance record

The Durham Arts Council announced that an estimated 40,000 people attended CenterFest this year, setting a new record for the festival in its 49th year.

The festival, which took place Sept. 21-22, features visual artists from around the country working across a variety of mediums, including ceramics, paintings, photography, jewelry, fiber art, woodwork and glass.

The Durham Arts Council also announced winners of its awards, with mixed media artist Joan Rasmussen winning Best in Show.
