City launches website for bond referendum

The city of Durham has launched a webpage to inform residents about two bond questions that will appear on the ballot in November.

If approved, the funds would be used to pay for repaving and repairing city-maintained streets, fixing existing sidewalks and building new sidewalks, improving Long Meadow and East End parks and building a new public water park at Merrick-Moore Park.

The city’s website provides details on the proposed projects, an interactive map showing the locations of the projects, a video, proposed park renderings, tax rate implications and frequently asked questions.

The bonds will appear as two questions on the November ballot: one authorizing $115 million for streets and sidewalks, and another authorizing $85 million for parks and recreation.
