Carolina Theatre’s fundraiser features local celebrities

The Carolina Theatre of Durham will host its third annual fundraiser, “Dancing With the Carolina Stars,” on Tuesday, May 21. Tickets are currently on sale, and proceeds from the event will support the theater’s mission.

The fundraiser will feature a wide range of local and national talent, including Farad Ali, co-founder of ALIHEIJMAN; Rory Gillis, president of Triangle Digital Partners and co-owner of Triangle Media Partners; Jason Peace, executive director of Meals on Wheels of Durham; Pilar Rocha Goldberg, president and CEO of El Centro Hispano; and Linda Shropshire, founder of Ella West Gallery. Local dance professionals will be paired with each star based on their interests and favorite dance styles.

“This fundraiser is especially meaningful because it demonstrates how connected the Durham community is between the arts, nonprofits, local businesses, cultural organizations, and the impact the theater makes on the local small business economy,” said Randy McKay, president and CEO of the Carolina Theatre. “We are inspired by the support of so many dedicated donors, volunteers, and artists and look forward to sharing this fun and quirky evening with the entire community.”

In addition to the dance performances, the event will include a welcome reception featuring hors d’oeuvres, a benefit auction and an after-night party with the stars.
