RDU breaks record with 15.5 million passengers in 2024

Raleigh-Durham International Airport ended 2024 with record passenger traffic, exceeding 15.5 million travelers, a 6.5% increase from 2023, the Airport Authority said.

The airport saw a particularly strong December: more than 1.3 million passengers, a 12.4% increase over December 2023.

RDU is seeing increased demand for flights to warm-weather destinations. JetBlue has added a second daily flight to San Juan for March and April. Spirit Airlines is increasing its flight frequency to Fort Lauderdale, going from four times a week to nine times a week in January and from four times a week to seven times a week in February. Avelo Airlines will launch two new international routes from RDU next month, offering nonstop service to Montego Bay and Punta Cana. The new Avelo routes will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays from mid-November through September.
