Community groups can beautify city with free flower bulbs

Community groups in Durham can now register to receive flower bulbs from Keep Durham Beautiful during its annual Bulb Blitz.

The program aims to brighten the city by providing bulbs for planting in community spaces.

Keep Durham Beautiful will distribute packets of flower bulbs to more than 100 groups. Packets of bulbs may include a mix of flowers that includes daffodils, tulips, hyacinth and allium.

Eligible organizations include neighborhoods, community gardens, faith-based organizations, garden clubs, schools, civic groups and similar groups.  The program is not intended for individual homeowners.

Each organization can register for one order of bulbs. Applications are due by midnight on January 6.
