The Durham Public Schools Family Academy program and Book Harvest, a nonprofit children’s literacy organization, will host an information session for families of English as a Second Language learners on Nov. 14 from 5:30 p.m to 7 p.m.
The session will focus on promoting literacy at home and supporting ESL students in school.
The event will be held at the Minnie Forte-Brown Staff Development Center, 2107 Hillandale Road. Instructors will share strategies used by DPS to teach literacy to ESL learners and how parents can use these approaches at home.
Dinner, childcare, homework assistance and Spanish-language interpretation will be provided. Registration is available online and closes Nov. 12 at 5 p.m.
