Hundreds of families attend Sheriff’s first “trunk or treat”

Hundreds of families attended the Durham County Sheriff’s Office’s first annual “Trunk or Treat” event at Northgate Shopping Center on Friday night, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Attendees explored fire trucks and ambulances, as well as specialized law enforcement equipment like motorcycles, search and recovery boats and bomb robots. Families spent the evening visiting with Sheriff’s Office deputies, firefighters and paramedics.

The event was made possible by the support of Northgate Shopping Center, the Durham Chamber of Commerce, WTVD and numerous first responder agencies.

In addition to the festivities, the Sheriff’s Office collected supplies for first responders deployed to western North Carolina for Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
