The Durham County Open Space Program, which works to preserve and protect land in the county, is accepting applications for the 2024-2025 cycle of its matching grants program.
The grants are designed to help nonprofit organizations preserve open space lands and promote new or improved recreational opportunities.
The program has assisted 67 organizations with more than 120 projects since it began in 1990. Past projects include land acquisitions, trail improvements, interpretive signage, community gardens and playgrounds.
Organizations may apply to receive funding for up to 50% of the total project cost.
Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Nov. 13. Applicants are encouraged to review the program guidelines.
More information is available on the county’s website.
