Historic Durham Athletic Park will host vintage “base ball” Saturday, Sept. 28 to raise money for the Duke Homestead State Historic Site.
The four-team event will feature a total of six games. The first one starts at 11 am.
Players will wear historic uniforms and use old-time equipment. The game will be based on 1860 and 1869 rules.
The family-friendly event will include concessions, food, beer, and live music. Spectators are encouraged to come dressed in a vintage outfit. Kids will also have the opportunity to play historic games with costumed interpreters. There will also be a running of the bases in between games. Free parking is available at the lot at 412 Morris St.
The Duke Homestead Education and History Corporation is a nonprofit organization that operates on a volunteer basis. Tickets to the game can be purchased online or in person at the Duke Homestead visitor center.
