The Durham Sheriff’s Office has seized 17 kilograms of cocaine and arrested three men for related charges, according to a release.
The Sheriff’s Office Anti-Crime and Narcotics unit conducted an investigation as part of a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Task force targeting drug activity across the state.
On Aug. 26, law enforcement officials conducted a traffic stop of two men who were the focus of the investigation. Officers discovered the men possessed four kilograms of cocaine.
Police later located a third suspect with an additional 13 kilograms of cocaine who was at the men’s primary residence in Lexington.
All three men were arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking in cocaine and one count of maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for the use or sale of a controlled substance.
The two men found in Durham were transported to the Durham County Detention Center where they are detained pending a $500,000 secured bond. The third suspect is being held in the Davidson County Detention Center on a $450,000 bond.
