Durham Housing Authority appoints new leadership

The Durham Housing Authority has appointed new executive leadership.

Ashanti Brown has been promoted to chief operations officer after previously serving as director of strategic management. She has served on DHA’s executive staff for seven years and has 16 years of housing authority experience.

Sean Buchanan has been named as the organization’s new deputy operations officer, overseeing the housing portfolio, IT and Strategic Management. He previously worked for housing authorities in Baltimore, Md., Newark, N.J. and Chicago, Ill.

The housing authority also selected Tonya Crawley as director of the housing choice voucher program. Crawley previously held roles at various housing authorities across the country, including Greenville, S.C., Atlanta, Ga. and Toledo, Ohio.
