The Durham County Open Space program, which works to preserve and protect land in Durham County, will host two volunteer workdays at New Hope Creek Preserve in August.
Participants will assist staff with habitat restoration and invasive species removal at sites along the New Hope Creek Bottomlands Trail.
The workdays will take place on Aug. 15 and 23, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Volunteers ages 10 and up may sign up online. Participants under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
The New Hope Creek Preserve is one of four parks and preserves managed by the Open Space program and is open to the public year-round. The preserve protects more than 260 acres of forest in southwest Durham.
