RDU unveils first Sustainability Program Annual Report

The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority (RDU) has released its first Sustainability Program Annual Report, outlining the steps the airport is taking to become more environmentally friendly.

The Airport Authority says the report highlights RDU’s efforts to integrate sustainable practices into its planning, design, construction, operations, maintenance, and business processes.

Some of the initiatives outlined in the report include the hiring of a dedicated energy manager to help reduce energy consumption in Authority-controlled facilities, the completion of a vulnerability assessment and risk evaluation for the Park Economy 3 expansion project and the reuse of construction materials to divert waste from landfills and reduce costs.

The public can access the full Sustainability Program Annual Report on the RDU website.
