Durham Neighborhood College takes applications for 2024

The Durham Neighborhood College program, which teaches residents about local government operations and services, is now accepting applications for 2024.

The program, co-sponsored by the city of Durham and Durham County Government, offers residents a chance to participate in classes led by city and county leaders. They will be held on seven Thursday nights starting Sept. 5, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Residents will enjoy a light meal before the class begins. The sessions will be held at local government facilities.

To be eligible for the program, residents must pay a $35 fee. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. Some past graduates have gone on to serve in elected and appointed positions for local and state governments.

Applications will be accepted through Friday, June 21. The program is limited to 25 participants.

If you are interested in applying,  you can receive an application by emailing publicinformationoffice@dconc.gov. Applications are also available at the Durham County Public Information Office, located at 200 E. Main Street, 2nd floor.
