Local pickleball coach funds new safety equipment

A new automated external defibrillator, or AED, has been installed at the Piney Wood Park pickleball courts, the Durham Parks Foundation announced.

The device is housed inside a weatherproof Save Station, the foundation said. Both the AED and Save Station were funded by a donation from local pickleball coach Bob Bradley.

The Durham Parks Foundation will host a dedication ceremony for the new equipment at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 at Piney Wood Park, 400 E. Woodcroft Parkway.

In a news release, the foundation described Bradley as a longtime advocate for pickleball and player safety.
