Larissa S. Williamson was named the new Durham County Attorney during the Board of County Commissioners’ meeting on Oct. 14.
Williamson, who was previously Durham’s deputy county attorney, was sworn in by Superior Court Judge Josephine Davis and fills the position that has been vacant since January.
Prior to joining Durham County government in 2018, Williamson began her legal career as an assistant public defender with the Fayetteville Public Defender’s Office. She then served as special deputy attorney general with the N.C. Department of Justice.
Williamson earned her undergraduate and law degrees from North Carolina Central University. She is the first female Durham County Attorney.
