The Durham County Board of Commissioners will host a public hearing on Monday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. to receive comments on an engineering report and environmental document on the Chin Page Road Lift Station.
According to a media release from the county, the new lift station and associated piping will increase sewer capacity in the Northeast Creek basin, which includes the majority of Research Triangle Park and surrounding areas.
The current sewer infrastructure in this basin does not have sufficient capacity for proposed development, re-development and future flows anticipated from the recently adopted City-County Comprehensive Plan, the release said.
The project is funded in part by a $19.3 million loan from the N.C. Division of Water Infrastructure that will be repaid over a 20 year period. The board has also approved appropriating $1.9 million of the Sewer Utility Enterprise Fund balance.
The engineering report and environmental information document are available on the board’s website. Those wishing to comment may participate in person, via Zoom or by submitting written comments. Instructions for each method of comment are available on the board’s website.
