Local teen selected for YouthVoice program

Durham student Amanda Davis has been selected to represent the county in the N.C. Association of County Commissioners YouthVoice program.

The program, which will be held in August in Forsyth County, helps youth gain a better understanding of county government and provides opportunities to connect with county officials. Delegates aged 14 to 19 are invited from all 100 North Carolina counties.

Davis, 14, is an active member of 4-H teen council, her church and her Girl Scout troop. She is president of her 4-H Homeschool Gardening Club and was recently elected as the North Central District 4-H president.

She is volunteering this summer with Kids Voting Durham and enjoys spending her free time writing, swimming, gardening and spending time with loved ones.
