Durham Arts Council offers grants for local artists

The Durham Arts Council is currently accepting applications for its Artist Support Grant program. These grants up to $1,500 are intended to support emerging and established artists in Durham, Orange, Alamance and Person Counties.

The program, created by the North Carolina Arts Council, funds professional and artistic development. Grant money can be used for the creation or presentation of new work, career promotion, training or travel.

Applicants must live in Durham, Orange, Alamance or Person Counties and be at least 18 years old and be either a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien. Applicants cannot be enrolled in a degree program in their art form and should demonstrate a commitment to spending a significant portion of their time on their work as artists

Applications are due Aug. 30.

A virtual information session will take place Tuesday, July 9 at 6 p.m. Those interested should email Margaret DeMott to receive the registration link.
