Durham Public Schools has named Kenneth Barnes interim executive director of auxiliary services.
Barnes, a veteran educator with more than 27 years of experience, will oversee transportation, child nutrition and warehouse operations. He will lead efforts to recruit and retain bus drivers.
He served as principal of Southern School of Energy and Sustainability from 2008 to 2014 and returned as interim principal in August.
Barnes earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from North Carolina Central University and an educational specialist degree from N.C. State University.
