Solid waste sites to close Friday for staff training

Durham County residents looking to dispose of waste at county convenience sites this Friday will have to make other plans, as all three will be closed.

The Parkwood, Redwood and Northern convenience sites will close on Dec. 13 due to a staff professional development training.

The department says it will also suspend all other services for the day. The county’s roadside recycling collection services will not be affected.

Residents with a current 2024-2025 solid waste decal can resume disposing of garbage, recycling and yard waste at the county’s convenience sites following each site’s regular schedule.

The Northern and Redwood Convenience Sites will reopen on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7 a.m., while the Parkwood Convenience Site will reopen on Monday, Dec. 16 at 7 a.m.
