The Durham Public Schools annual application lottery for specialty and magnet schools as well as other specialized programs will open on Jan. 6, 2025, the district announced.
The lottery will offer opportunities for students to apply to a variety of programs, including Montessori, year-round schools, International Baccalaureate, Dual-Language Immersion, specialty schools, early college programs and Career and Technical Education pathways.
Families should note that applications for Montessori pre-K must be submitted through the DPS lottery, not the North Carolina pre-K application.
The lottery will close at 5 p.m. on Jan. 31, with results announced on March 3.
DPS will offer lottery application assistance on Jan. 25, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Minnie Forte-Brown Staff Development Center, 2107 Hillandale Rd.
