Prime Barbecue’s award-winning pitmaster Christopher Prieto is opening a new restaurant in the Horseshoe at Hub RTP next year.
Prime STQ, a hybrid barbecue-steakhouse concept, will combine Prieto’s Texas roots, Puerto Rican heritage and North Carolina home, according to a news release from RTP.
The 8,000 square-foot restaurant is slated to open in spring 2025 in a stand-alone building at 1151 Hitchings Way. It will have indoor and outdoor seating for 250, as well as a private dining room with views of the pit room.
Pireto’s Prime Barbecue was named second in America by Texas Monthly for “Top Texas-Style BBQ Joints Outside the Lone Star State.” He has operated the restaurant, located in Knightdale, since 2020.
Prime STQ will offer lunch and dinner. Construction is expected to begin this year.
