Downtown Durham is set to change its mobile payment system for parking for the first time.
The city has offered pay-by-phone services for parking through Passport since 2016. The City Council on Nov. 18 unanimously approved a switch to a new provider, ParkMobile. The transition is expected to be seamless, with the new app fully integrated into Durham’s parking infrastructure, according to the city.
The city says that ParkMobile will offer a user-friendly experience with features such as easy on-site registration, multilingual support, integration with Google and Apple accounts, real-time parking availability, pay reminders and expiration notices and the ability to use prepaid cards or services like PayPal.
Chapel Hill, Raleigh and Greensboro currently use ParkMobile.
