Durham Symphony Orchestra kicks off holiday season with Winter Pops

The Durham Symphony Orchestra will kick off the holiday season with its Winter Pops at the Armory concert on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.

The family-friendly concert will take place at the Durham Armory, 212 Foster St., and feature a variety of holiday classics, including traditional sing-alongs and classical works, including three selections from Tchaikovsky’s Christmas ballet, “The Nutcracker.”

Soprano Alissa Roca will join the orchestra for selections from Handel’s “Messiah.” The concert will also feature student musicians from United Strings of Color, who will perform Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s “Christmas Overture” with the orchestra.

Music Director William Henry Curry will conduct. Tickets and further information can be found on the orchestra’s website.
