Welcome Baby, a program of the Durham County Cooperative Extension that provides parenting support and resources to local families, is hosting its 12th annual coat drive from Nov. 8 to Jan. 10, 2025.
The organization is asking for donations of gently used and new children’s coats in sizes newborn to 8 years. It has a goal of collecting and distributing 1,200 coats.
Last year’s drive set a record of more than 1,000 coats that were distributed to Durham County youth.
Coats can be dropped off at various locations, including the Welcome Baby office at the Durham County Cooperative Extension, 721 Foster St., and Durham County library locations. They will be accepted at the Welcome Baby office Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Collection times at libraries are determined by the hours each location operates.
Donated coats should be freshly washed and dried before dropping them off.
