The Durham County Sheriff’s Office is joining forces with ABC11 Together to host a trunk-or-treat event on Halloween night, Thursday, Oct. 31.
The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Northgate Mall in the parking lot near Sears.
Children are invited to trick-or-treat and explore a variety of emergency vehicles, including motorcycles, cars, bomb robots, a rescue boat, a fire truck and ambulances.
The event will also serve as a collection point for hygiene and comfort items to be distributed to first responders assisting with Hurricane Helene recovery efforts in western North Carolina. Most needed items include travel packs of body wipes and Clorox wipes, travel toiletries, small hand sanitizers, individual powdered drink mixes, snack packs and energy bars.
While donations are not required to participate in the event, people are encouraged to contribute to support the relief efforts.
