Walking tour of Durham’s Old West, Watts-Hillandale, and Walltown neighborhoods

Local historian John Schelp, known for his @postcardsfromdurham Instagram account, will lead a walking tour of Durham’s Old West, Watts-Hillandale and Walltown neighborhoods on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m. 

The tour, which begins at Ninth and Green Street across from White Star Laundry, is co-hosted by the Museum of Durham History, Preservation Durham and the Sierra Club.

The two-hour tour will delve into the history of these neighborhoods, exploring the origins of local landmarks.

Dogs are not allowed on the tour, which had more than 200 participants when it was last offered. Parking is available on nearby streets. The event is free and advance sign-up is not required.
