Several Durham County Government buildings will be illuminated green in advance of Veterans Day as part of a nationwide effort called Operation Green Light for Veterans.
The initiative, led by the National Association of Counties, is designed to raise awareness about challenges faced by veterans and inform them about resources available at the county, state and federal levels to assist them and their families.
From Nov. 4 to Nov. 11, the Administration II Building, the Taurus sculpture, the Human Services Building and the Durham County Courthouse will be lit green.
Durham County is encouraging residents and businesses to participate by changing a light bulb to green. Free green bulbs are available to residents at the Durham County Veteran Services office, 201 N. Roxboro St., from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, while supplies last.
The county’s Veteran Services department will hold its annual Veterans Day Celebration at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the county’s Human Services Building, 414 E. Main St.
