Durham water play areas to close for season on Friday

Durham’s spraygrounds will close for the season on Friday, Oct. 18, the city’s parks and recreation department announced.

The city operates four of the specially designed play areas, which have water jets and fountains that spray water in all directions.

The city will be winterizing the facilities to ensure they’re ready to re-open next spring. The water play areas open by Memorial Day weekend and operate through early fall, according to the city.
