Research Triangle Foundation names new chief operating officer

The Research Triangle Foundation, a nonprofit that manages Research Triangle Park, has named Andrew Holton as its new chief operating officer. He started in the role Oct. 1.

Holton has previously worked at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer, as well as the private real estate development groups NSV Development and Lansing Melbourne Group.

He will play a central role in the expansion of Hub RTP, the Research Triangle’s downtown development, according to a news release announcing Holton’s hiring. When completed, Hub RTP will span 100 acres and feature up to 1 million square feet of office and lab space, 250 hotel rooms, 1,200 residential units and 50,000 square feet of restaurants and retail.

Holton received a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
