DPS awarded $11.4 million federal grant

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Durham Public Schools an $11.4 million grant to support several initiatives of the district’s Growing Together plan.

The grant, which will be administered over five years, is part of the Magnet Schools Assistance Program, which funds local education agencies to establish and operate magnet schools and to attract a diverse group of students.

The funding will promote diversity and access across the district, according to a news release announcing the award.
