The Durham County Veteran Services Department will soon move to a new location in downtown Durham.
The new office, 201 N. Roxboro St., will open on Monday, Oct. 14. The space was previously occupied by the Durham County Board of Elections, which recently moved to the Shoppes at Hope Valley.
The veterans’ department will cease operations at its current office at the Human Services Building, 414 E. Main St., at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7. The department will be closed to the public from Oct. 8 to Oct. 11.
Normal operations will resume on Oct. 14 at 8:30 a.m. at the new location. Signs will be placed inside and outside of the Human Services Building and the new location to inform residents of the move.
During the closure, veterans needing immediate assistance can contact the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at 1-800-827-1000 for general inquiries or the Durham VA Health Care System at 919-286-0411 for medical concerns.
