The City of Durham is opening one road but closing lanes on another because of the sewer replacement project on Lakewood Avenue.
Lakewood Avenue has been reopened to traffic, but Roxboro Street will have continued lane closures between Hillside Avenue and Morehead Avenue through the fall to accommodate sanitary sewer installations. There will be temporary pavement markings to shift traffic lanes.
The project includes stream restoration work north of Lakewood Avenue near the American Tobacco Trail.
During work hours, noise levels may exceed levels recommended by the current city ordinance. Flooding in the area is also possible. The city has said that no water or sewer service disruptions are anticipated.
Bicycle lanes and sidewalks will also be affected byr the work. There will be no work on weekends.
