The Durham County Cooperative Extension is seeking volunteers for a new program aimed at serving the community through food-related activities.
The program, called the Extension Master Food Volunteer Program, offers an opportunity to bring together people who share a love for food and a commitment to community service, the county said in a news release.
Volunteers will receive specialized training in food and kitchen safety, nutrition and meal preparation.
Interested individuals are required to attend an information session to learn more about the program. The Cooperative Extension will host two information sessions on Zoom, on Sept. 25 and Oct. 30, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Online registration is required. A limited number of applicants will be accepted to the program, which is set to begin in January 2025.
