Fullsteam Brewery will open a new taproom on the first floor of the historic Power Plant at the American Tobacco Campus, the ATC announced in a release.
The 9,000 square-foot space is located between the Lucky Strike water tower and smokestack. The new location will feature a restaurant on one side and a bar on the other, according to the release.
Fullsteam’s new home will include indoor and outdoor seating, a pilot brewing system, a small stage for live performances, a private party area and a full HVAC system.
The new taproom is expected to take about a year to complete. Fullsteam will end operations at its current location on Rigsbee Avenue on Oct. 31 but will continue to brew beer and serve customers at its Boxyard RTP location. Production will eventually shift to Fortnight Brewing Company in Cary.
As previously reported by The 10th Street Journal, Fullsteam opened at its Rigsbee Avenue location in 2010. Owner Sean Lilly Wilson attributed the move to a need for increased space for production and distribution, an opportunity for a new taproom and a proposed rent increase at the current location
