The Durham County Open Space Program will host a celebration of moths at Hollow Rock Nature Park on Aug. 17 at 8 p.m.
Open Space staff will use lights to attract moths, making them easier for attendees to identify. The event will also include games, activities and prizes.
According to a release from the Open Space program, more than 3,000 species of moths can be found in North Carolina.
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to register online, bring water and flashlights and apply bug spray prior to arriving.
