The 22nd annual Russell Blunt East Coast Invitational Track Meet will take place this weekend at Durham County Memorial Stadium.
The meet, hosted by the Durham Striders Youth Association, will run from Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21. The first events will begin at 9 a.m. each day, with gates opening at 8 a.m.
The invitational, open to young athletes up to 18 years old, began in 2000, when the Russell E. Blunt Invitational merged with the East Coast Invitational. The meet has previously been held at Duke University, North Carolina A&T State University and Hillside High School.
Past meets have produced national record performances, and some participants have gone on to become NCAA national champions and Olympic qualifiers and champions.
More information on the invitational is available online.
