Musical based on ‘Bull Durham’ coming to Duke

The lollygaggers are coming to the stage.

A new musical based on the classic film “Bull Durham” will open at Duke University’s Reynolds Industries Theater this September.

Written by the film’s original screenwriter and director Ron Shelton, the musical tells the story of veteran catcher Crash Davis who has been brought to the Durham Bulls to prepare rookie Ebby Calvin ‘Nuke’ LaLoosh for the major leagues.

Bull Durham, A New Musical is presented by Theatre Raleigh and sponsored by Duke Arts. Music and lyrics are by Susan Werner.

Preview performances begin on Sept. 10 with opening night scheduled for Sept. 13. The show will run through Sept. 22.

Tickets are available through the Duke University Box Office.
