Durham Public Schools has announced new principals for three elementary schools and one middle school and a new executive director of equity affairs and program evaluation.
The appointments include Vanessa Alford as principal of C.C. Spaulding Elementary School, Eunice Sanders as interim principal of Merrick-Moore Elementary School, Jennifer Hall as principal of Club Boulevard Elementary School, Crystal Cahill as principal of Githens Middle School and Iwinosa Idahor as the district’s executive director of equity affairs and program evaluation.
Alford previously served as a principal in Cumberland County Schools and Durham Public Schools and as an assistant principal in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and Cumberland County Schools.
Sanders has served as principal at four other schools in Durham, including C.C. Spaulding Elementary School, Rogers-Herr Middle School and Neal Middle School. She was also the first permanent female principal of Hillside High School.
Hall has twice been named Teacher of the Year and has a background in English for Speakers of Other Languages.
Cahill is currently the assistant principal at Githens Middle School and won the district’s 2023-2024 Assistant Principal of the Year award.
Idahor currently serves as student equity, engagement and opportunity coordinator for DPS.
