Durham youth to present ‘third place’ designs to city leadership

Over the past eight months, a group of young creatives in Durham has partnered with professional architects to envision a new “third place,” a regular meeting spot outside of home or work.

Through the Durham Youth Design Workshop series, young people have partnered with professional architects to learn the process and tools of design while creating a new third place in Durham. “Third place” refers to a public, casual and social environment where people can connect with their community beyond their workplace or home.

The participants will present their vision to Durham leadership on June 8 at City Hall. The event begins at 1:30 p.m., and refreshments will be served immediately following the presentation. Language interpretation will also be available. Registration is available online.
