Durham County to host free electronic waste drop-off event

A free event will allow residents in the unincorporated parts of Durham County to safely dispose of unneeded electronic equipment such as televisions, speakers, and computers.

The Electronics Recycling Drop Off event, hosted by Durham County Solid Waste, will take place on June 1 from 8 a.m. until noon at the Northern Durham Convenience Site at 11894 N. Roxboro Road.

Residents must bring a current solid waste decal issued by Durham County. A list of acceptable items includes but is not limited to: televisions, stereo equipment, gaming consoles, computers, monitors, laptops, keyboards, printers, CPU, speakers, telephones, cell phones, fax machines, kitchen electronics, power tools, cordless tools, hair dryers, curling irons and alarm clocks.

The event will not accept commercially generated waste.
