Durham asks some residents to help identify their water service lines

The Durham Water Management team is mailing postcards to some customers to request assistance identifying what type of service line they have.

The postcards are part of the city’s effort to inventory what materials are used to make up water service lines in the Bull City. The city is able to deduce the material of some lines based on the age of the home and other factors, but some homes are currently classified as “unknown” until the material can be confirmed.

Residents who receive a postcard and follow the steps outlined and may be eligible for a $30 credit on their water bill.

More information about the water service line inventory and verification project can be found on the city’s website.
