Three additional public elementary schools will offer a year-round calendar for the 2024-2025 school year, Durham Public Schools announced.
Hope Valley, Oak Grove, and W.G. Pearson elementary schools will offer a year-round calendar, joining Holt, Easley and Pearsontown Elementary, Rogers-Herr Middle School and The School for Creative Studies.
The year-round calendar operates with nine-week school sessions, followed by breaks of approximately three weeks and a roughly five-week summer break.
The district says that the year-round schedule supports social, emotional and academic success, helps with teacher retention and makes scheduling vacations and family care easier.
