Durham’s Changed by Youth Ambassador Program accepting applications through May 29

Applications for the Changed by Youth Ambassador Program, which supports Durham’s young people in developing leadership skills and a stronger sense of identity, are now being accepted.

The program is open to those who are 15 to 22 years old and live, work and learn in Durham. Over the course of ten months, participants will take part in a variety of professional development opportunities, learn how to work as a team and develop a plan to create a community program  that  addresses the needs of young people in Durham.

Ambassadors will be given the opportunity to work with local government and community organizations on a variety of projects that will help them to gain experience in a variety of areas, including leadership, teamwork, and communication. The program also offers skill-building opportunities, including a three-day overnight retreat.

Ambassadors should be able to commit 15 hours a month between August 2024 and June 2025, and will receive $17.50 per hour (up to $2,400 per term).

More information and the link to apply can be found on the city’s website.
